A Pyramid for Paris

A aerial view of Tour Triangle, a glass pyramid skyscraper rising above the Paris skyline, with the Eiffel Tower visible behind it.

Lesson overview

Tour Triangle in Paris took nearly 20 years to go from design to reality. The 180-meter glass pyramid designed by Herzog & de Meuron battled court cases, council votes, and angry politicians before construction even started. Now it has finally topped out, and it is almost certainly the last skyscraper central Paris will ever build. This ESL lesson explores that story at two levels, A2-B1 and B2-C1, with vocabulary, discussion questions, and a speaking activity.
