C1 – Recessions Actually Make People Live Longer

This lesson explores the unexpected benefits of experiencing financial hardships such as recessions. It encourages students to engage with ideas that may challenge their perspectives, fostering critical thinking and self-expression. The lesson includes individual activities such as in-class article reading (5 minutes) and brief online research with a classmate (3 minutes). Additionally, there’s vocabulary practice aimed at condensing sentences using key lesson words, numerous discussion points, and a movie recommendation on the final slide. A flipped lesson format is possible. This lesson is tailored for adult learners at C1 and C2 proficiency levels.
