Start with the lead-in questions. These get students thinking about numbers they use daily. Question 4 about phone numbers in English often reveals students struggle with this, which the lesson addresses later. Then do the pronunciation practice with the list of numbers. Say each one and have students repeat. Pay attention to twelve versus twenty, fifteen versus fifty, and how to say years like 1992 as “nineteen ninety-two.”

Move to the dates section. Read the tip box together about ordinal numbers. Then practice the five date questions. Students answer aloud using the two acceptable formats: “July first” or “the first of July.” Drill a few examples before moving on. Play the first listening about booking a hotel. Students note check-in date, check-out date, and number of nights. The dialogue includes a mistake where the receptionist says three nights instead of four, which makes students listen carefully.

The prices section explains how to say amounts like $2.50 as “two dollars fifty” without saying cents. Students practice saying six prices from the pictures. Then play the coffee shop dialogue. Students write down the juice price, sandwich price, and total. After checking answers, drill the prices together. The years section shows how to split years into two parts. Students answer five personal questions using years, then listen to Kevin’s life story and fill in the blank years.

Phone numbers come last. Read the tip about saying numbers one by one and using “oh” for zero and “double” for repeated digits. Practice the four example numbers together, then students say their own phone number. Play the pizza ordering dialogue where students write down the phone number they hear. The review section tests everything through quick questions mixing dates, prices, years, and phone numbers.
