Finally: Change Gmail Username

Lesson overview

Gmail has turned 22 and finally added a feature people have wanted for years: the ability to change your email username without losing anything. Your old address stays active as an alias, so emails still come through and you can still log in with either one. There is a limit of one new username per year, and new addresses cannot be deleted once created. This lesson takes a story most students will relate to personally: that cringeworthy email address you made at 14 and never managed to escape. Students work through vocabulary around accounts, aliases, and digital identity before discussing how our online choices follow us longer than we expect.
