About us

In 2020, we started teaching freelance and quickly realized the real challenge wasn't finding students. It was the lessons themselves. Everything we came across online was either way too basic or so poorly put together that we'd spend more time fixing it than actually teaching. We'd download something that looked decent, only to find out it needed a complete rework before we could bring it into class.

At some point, we gave up on trying to fix other people's materials and just started making our own from scratch. We tried them out with real students, adjusted them based on what clicked, and kept fine-tuning until they felt right to teach. Over time, we ended up with a library of lessons that cut our prep time way down and made our classes run smoother.

Then it hit us: if these materials were making things easier for us, they could do the same for tons of other teachers. We figured we probably weren't alone in being fed up with the lack of solid resources out there. So we decided to put what we'd made out into the world, hoping it might help other teachers bring in more students, feel more prepared, and get some of that prep time back.

How We Work

Our creation process

Every lesson goes through the same steps: from an initial idea to something you can actually use in class. Here's how we make sure they stay engaging, accurate, and practical.

Step 1

Idea

Inspiration

Idea

Every lesson starts with an idea: usually something we stumbled on in the news, a video, or a gap we noticed while teaching. We go for topics that make students curious and get them talking.

Step 2

Research

Careful planning

Research

We look into the topic, pull out vocabulary worth teaching, and map out activities for different levels. The goal is to make sure everything is accurate and actually relevant to students.

Step 3

Design

Thoughtful creation

Design

Our team writes and formats each lesson in Light, Dark, and A4 versions. We focus on keeping things visually clean, practical, and easy for teachers to pick up and use.

Step 4

Testing & Publishing

Testing & Publishing

Before anything goes live, we go through it and test it to make sure it works in a real classroom. Once it checks out, we publish it and it's ready for teachers everywhere.

We're based in Ukraine, but we've taught all over. Over the years, we've worked with students across Asia and Europe, which gave us a real sense of how differently people learn depending on where they're from and what challenges teachers run into in different places. All of that feeds into the materials we make now.

Honestly? Whatever we could dig up online. Most of it was either too simple, hard to follow, or took more time to fix than it was worth. We kept making our own stuff from scratch so often that eventually we thought: why not just do this full-time and share it with everyone else stuck in the same spot?

It came from something pretty straightforward: better lessons lead to better classes. We wanted a name that was clear, upbeat, and easy to remember. Every time we put out a lesson, we want it to actually live up to that.

We do! Follow us @betterclass101 for teaching tips, lesson updates, and the occasional look at how things come together behind the scenes. We try to keep it helpful without being too salesy.

After years of teaching, we've gotten a decent sense of what gets students to actually open up. We draw from everyday life, trending news, stuff our students bring up, and ideas from teachers in our community. If it gets people talking, there's a good chance we'll turn it into a lesson.

A little bit of everything, honestly. We like traveling when we get the chance, staying up to date on tech and gadgets, playing sports, and taking photos. Coffee hunting has turned into a real hobby at this point. We also hike a lot, catch live games when we can, read whatever grabs our attention, and mess around in the kitchen. We're curious about most things, which probably explains how we ended up teaching in the first place.
