Lead-In, Discussion
This B1-level ESL lesson begins with a lead-in section where students discuss questions about Black Friday, including shopping habits, finding great deals, and saving money. Next, students will engage in a discussion activity. They will rank various items based on what they would prioritize buying on Black Friday and explain the reasoning behind their choices. This activity promotes critical thinking and enhances conversational skills.
Vocabulary match, Practice
After that, students will complete a vocabulary matching exercise to familiarize themselves with 10 key words and phrases related to Black Friday. They will find and discuss the definitions of these terms. On the next slide, students will practice using the keywords by answering various shopping-related questions, reinforcing their understanding and usage of the vocabulary.
Video, Comprehension, True or false
This lesson plan is based on a short YouTube video titled Five Simple Tips to Make the Most of Black Friday. Students will watch the video twice: first to take notes on the five tips, then to discuss them. They will also share one additional shopping tip based on their own experiences. To check their understanding, students will complete a true-or-false exercise based on the video content.
Mistakes, Questions
This lesson also includes an exercise where students read sentences and correct any mistakes. This activity helps reinforce grammar concepts and provides another opportunity to review the vocabulary learned in class. The final activity focuses on answering questions related to shopping.
