Lead-In, Discussion

Students will begin this ESL lesson by discussing their preferences for coffee shops, including the coffee they usually order and their experiences visiting coffee shops in different countries. Following this, they will participate in a discussion where they identify what is important to them in a coffee shop. Students will rank factors such as friendly staff, a pleasant atmosphere, good coffee, free Wi-Fi, and comfortable seating, and share their opinions on why these aspects matter.

Vocabulary, Questions, Vocabulary practice

In the next part of this ESL lesson, students will learn 10 vocabulary words related to coffee shops. Afterward, they will answer 10 questions that test their understanding of the new vocabulary. This will be followed by a vocabulary practice activity, where students will match common questions heard in coffee shops with the correct answers.

Reading, Comprehension, Mistakes

In the next section of this A2 ESL lesson, students will read about three unique coffee shops. They will be tasked with explaining highlighted vocabulary words and answering comprehension questions to check their understanding. After the text, there will be eight sentences containing mistakes that students must identify and correct.

Writing

Finally, there will be a writing activity where students describe a unique coffee shop from their country or city, write a few sentences about it, and find a picture online to share with the class.
